Catch the ASDA Fever!

In order to teach members more about organized dentistry and give them a preview into what it’ll be like as dental students to be involved in it, PDSA offers members the opportunity to attend conferences held by the American Student Dental Association. These conferences aim at building leadership skills, helping pre-dental students become better dental school applicants and teaching pre-dental students more about the dental field. National Leadership Conference

PDSA has had a wonderful opportunity attending the National Leadership Conference (NLC) hosted by the American Dental Student Association (ASDA) over the past few years. The National Leadership Conference (NLC) is a three day event that takes place once a year and is held in Chicago, Illinois. At this conference pre-dental and dental students from schools all over the United States come together to receive leadership training. At this conference, attendees get to attend a variety of sessions, each with different speakers and activities throughout the day. Attendees choose to attend each session from the schedules that they create on their own based on personal knowledge, experience, and interests. Attending these different sessions allows pre-dental and dental students to develop leadership skills that will benefit them personally and academically as they go on to become future dental students or future practitioners, as well as leaders in organized dentistry. Additionally, NLC includes a dental expo, where attendees meet and interact with vendors and have the opportunity to learn about services, products, and new technologies arising in the dental field.

Every year PDSA offers two scholarships to provide financial assistance to two of it’s members who plan to attend the National Leadership Conference! Annual Session

Over the past few years, PDSA has also had the privilege to attend the American Dental Student Association’s Annual Session, which takes place once a year throughout different states across the United States. Annual Session is a four day event geared more towards dental students, as it brings together student leaders from all 66 United States’ dental schools. ASDA’s Annual Session is the official meeting of ASDA’s House of Delegates and the meeting during which association policy is voted on. Attendees listen to speakers addressing hot topics in dentistry, as well as sharing inspirational lessons. This conference allows pre-dental students to learn, recognize, and experience what organized dentistry is all about, as they continue to their education to prepare and become future dental students or dental professionals. The Annual Session Conference also provides pre-dental students with an array of pre-dental track sessions, which include mock interviews, DAT workshops, and much more! Lastly, Annual Session includes a dental expo, the Gold Crown Awards Ceremony, and the election of new national leaders.
